I ekte postmoderne ånd referete vi til alt mulig. Her er et utdrag fra en artikkel i dagens NY times der Joachim Trier snakker om de postmoderne trekkene ved filmen Reprise:
Without a dominant local culture and with a world to draw on, the process of self-definition is at once confusing and liberating. “I read Japanese comics and French books and watched American movies,” Mr. Trier said. “Reprise” reflects some of that hybrid vigor, especially on the carefully chosen soundtrack, which includes the mope rock of Joy Division, the feminist art punk of Le Tigre and the death metal of the Norwegian headbangers Turbonegro.
“Reprise” revels in the postmodern form of pastiche even as it gently mocks the postmodern inability to commit. In one telling scene Erik appears on a talk show to discuss his novel and finds himself helplessly making air quotes whenever he opens his mouth.
